Jon Plair is one of those rapidly-expanding gospel artists who has done just that!  He continues to revolutionize the gospel music industry with a resilient creative edge. Remarkably, he has provided indisputable proof of his great talents and of an even greater future with his debut project Can You Imagine!

 

A pastor’s son with an intrinsic melodic skill and a compelling music heritage, Jon's passion for music began at the tender age of four. Although Jon grew up with an insatiable love for basketball in the inner city of Kalamazoo, Michigan, his love for basketball began outweigh his love for music. Yet did he know, his  life was  about  to  change  beyond  his  wildest dreams.  In  his  senior year of high school,  Jon was cut from the varsity basketball team.  His dreams was utterly shattered as he tried to make sense of it all.  Consequently, he decided to take on the mentality of the world and give up on God.

 

Unknowingly to him, it was the dawning of his gospel music career.  The process was not by any means easy for him; it came with many ups and downs. In spite of this, Jon recognized when God has a plan for your life and the will of God must prevail!

 

Jon’s authentic debut masterpiece Can You Imagine features the single “I Gotta Do Better”, which is creating quite a stir within the gospel music industry. His exceptional vocal talent on this project takes melody and harmony in a completely new direction.Can You Imagine immediately establishes a dialogue with the music and the lyrics. Jon's arrangements coupled with the stylistic diversity raises the bar of excellence. Jon brings to his audiences ministry through song with a personalized blend.

 

In addition to releasing his new project, Jon is a member and the coordinator of choirs at Messiah Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan. As the coordinator of choirs at Messiah Baptist Church, Jon delivers with great affection the connectivity between music coordination, various arrangements and the appreciation of gospel music. As a result, he creates for his audience a “taste and see” response.

 

Skilled in various instruments ranging from drums to the trumpet, Jon is a prolific and innovative director and composer. His uncompromising vocal talents and music gifts have allowed to share his ministry before gospel greats such as Dorinda Clark- Cole, Rance Allen and Pastor Rudolph Stanfield. Jon's gift has made room for him greatly. He has also been featured on various media outlets such as TBN and BET's Dr. Bobby Jone's Gospel. Jon's brilliant performances have not only demonstrated his enormous sensitivity to ministry, but displayed an authenticity like no other.

 

Jon believes in operating with excellence in every aspect of his life. Graduating from Loy Norrix High School, Jon continued his educational pursuits at the University of Detroit Mercy. He is also the visionaire behind Plair’s Music Institute of Performing Arts in Detroit, Michigan. Jon is marred to the love of his life, Naomi and to this union came two children.
